As a member of BFSC, you will have access to our sailing video library, newsletters and our membership who are some of the best sailors on Lake Lanier.
All but the copy-protected VHS tapes have been converted to DVD format.
DVD/ VHS tapes may be borrowed by Barefoot Sailing Club members at a fee of $3.00 for a 30 day period (this changes the 7 day rental, as in the past). A DVD rented at a membership meeting will be due for return at the next scheduled membership meeting. A stamped mailer can be obtained for an additional $2.25 to cover the cost of the mailer and postage.
With videos related to our passion retailing for $29.00 to $50.00 each, $3.00 is quite a bargain for the education and entertainment available from these tapes. Late fees of $0.10 per day will accrue for each day until the DVD is received by the librarian.
When checking out tapes, please PRINT your name and phone number on the Video Library Checkout sheet maintained by your librarian. Pay your money (exact change appreciated) and be sure that the mailing box has the current librarian's name and address on the front.
To keep DVD/ VHS tapes available for a larger audience, please borrow only one DVD/ VHS tapes at a time. (If DVD/ VHS tapes remain available in the closing moments of a function where the video library is in attendance, this rule will be relaxed.)
DVD/ VHS tapes will be available to borrow at a monthly membership meetings and at selected club functions. We prefer to have tapes returned at the monthly membership meetings.
Between meetings, DVD/ VHS tapes may be requested by leaving word with the Librarian. This year's librarian is Neil Franklin and can be reached via email. This information is also available in the monthly newsletter, Footnotes.
We are trying to keep the library current and in tune with the club member's interests. We are on the lookout for material on cruising, racing, sail trimming, rig/hull/systems maintenance, seamanship, navigation, good charter destinations, and dramatic/documentary/humorous videos related to sailing. Please keep you eyes open and tell us you suggestions for additions to the library. Furthermore, we welcome donations of serviceable tapes from your library (and can be cajoled into bartering their value against future loans from the club library.)
Our monthly newsletter, Footnotes, contains articles from our membership concerning all aspects of sailing and the most current news and events. Click on the Newsletters link above for a sample. Members have complete access to our online archived newsletters.
